Who we are
This shop is run by Rachel Pittman, trading as The Ducky Nest and Ducky Whimsical (“we”, “us”). We’re responsible for the personal information collected through this website. You can contact us at rachel@theduckynest.com or by post at 42 Quebec Street, Brighton, BN2 9UZ.
What we collect and why
- When you buy something: your name, delivery and billing address, email address and phone number, and what you ordered. We need these to take payment, send your order and keep business records. Lawful basis: to perform our contract with you, and our legal obligations (tax records).
- Payments: card payments are handled by WooPayments (powered by Stripe). We never see or store your full card details.
- When you contact us or ask about a commission: your name, email address, whatever you tell us and any photos you send, so we can reply. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps at your request before a contract.
- Newsletter: if you sign up, your email address so we can send occasional news about new work and sales. Lawful basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Website statistics: we use Burst Statistics, hosted on our own website, to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn’t share data with third parties.
- Cookies: we use cookies the shop needs to work (such as your basket) and, only if you agree, optional ones. See our Cookie Policy and change your choices at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of each page.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with companies that help us run the shop, and only what they need: our website host (WPX Hosting), our payment provider (WooPayments/Stripe), Royal Mail or another courier to deliver your order, our email newsletter tool (MailPoet), and Akismet (Automattic), which checks form messages for spam. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they use legal safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for six years after the end of the financial year, because UK tax law requires it. Messages and commission enquiries are kept for up to two years unless they lead to an order. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to move it to another provider, and to withdraw consent at any time. To do any of these, email rachel@theduckynest.com. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

We’ll update this page if anything changes and show the date at the top.
